Grant Thornton 30 years in Finland
Since 1993, Revico Grant Thornton has been a significant player in Finnish auditing. Grant Thornton is one of the world's leading firms providing audit, tax, corporate finance, and other advisory services, and we have been a part of this international success story for nearly 30 years. It all began with the founding partners Mårten Forss and Joakim Rehn establishing the auditing company Revico in 1993, and since then, the company has grown profitably year after year up until this day.
- 1993: In the year 1993, Mårten Forss and Joakim Rehn founded the auditing firm Revico
- 1994: The first employee is hired
- 1994: Revico becomes a part of the international Grant Thornton network
- 1995: Tax and Advisory departments are established to provide services related to taxation and corporate transactions
- 1996: Grant Thornton Nordic collaboration begins among Nordic colleagues
- 1997: The Outsourcing department is established to serve clients with financial administration outsourcing needs
- 1997: Collaboration with the Tampere-based firm Idman Vilén starts
- 2001: Idman Vilén becomes a part of Grant Thornton
- 2001: The establishment of a common holding company, Grant Thornton Finland
- 2008: Turku-based Advico becomes a subsidiary of Revico Grant Thornton, renamed as Advico Grant Thornton
- 2009: Juha-Pekka Keimmo is appointed as the CEO of Revico Grant Thornton
- 2016: The Baltic countries become part of Grant Thornton's Nordic-Baltic collaboration
- 2019: Jonni Leporanta is appointed as the CEO of Revico Grant Thornton
- 2019: Revico Grant Thornton moves to a new office at Tietokuja 4
- 2020: The COVID-19 pandemic leads the staff to remote work and accelerates the digitization of the business
- 2022: Idman Vilén Grant Thornton in Tampere and Pori separates from the Grant Thornton
- 2022: The staff of AltumAudit joins Grant Thornton
- 2023: Our company- and organizational structure will be simplified when Oy Revico Consulting Ab will merge with its current parent company Revico Grant Thornton Oy. In connection with the merger the company name Revico Grant Thornton Oy will be changed to Grant Thornton Oy
- 2023: Grant Thornton Finland, with approximately 80 employees and 9 million in revenue, is part of Grant Thornton International, a leading organization providing audit, tax, corporate finance, and other advisory services globally
The international growth story
The international growth story of Grant Thornton dates back to the early 1900s in Scotland. The company was founded in 1904 under the name Thornton, Baker & Co. Scottish accountants Alexander Grant and William Thornton joined forces to establish an auditing firm.
Over the following decades, the company grew and expanded its presence. In 1959, Grant Thornton opened its first international office in the United States, marking a significant step towards internationalization. In 1975, Thornton, Baker & Co. and the American firm Alexander Grant & Co. merged to create the globally recognized network known as Grant Thornton. Over the years, numerous firms from around the world have joined this network.
Today, Grant Thornton is one of the world's largest accounting firms, operating in over 140 countries with thousands of professionals in its employ. The Grant Thornton network consists of several independent member firms operating in different countries. The collaboration and shared values among these member firms enable a vast global network, offering local expertise and international capabilities to serve their clients.
